Carl Frederick Amos Obituary check_circle

Carl Frederick Amos of Calgary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the age of 79 years with his wife and family at his side.
Carl was born May 2, 1933 in Amherst, Nova Scotia, the son of the late Thomas and Beatrice Amos. He moved to Alberta in the early 1950’s to work in the oil fields, and met Cathleen in Brooks in 1952 marrying her June 2, 1956.
Moving to Calgary in 1956, Carl started his 41 year career with the Calgary Herald where he held positions in Reader Sales and Services, from district advisor to city supervisor, mostly enjoying his time as country representative.
Carl spent his free time, travelling with his wife and friends and enjoyed anything to do with boats, snowmobiles, cars, bikes and planes. He enjoyed spending time at their family cabin in Birch Bay at Gull Lake, Alberta, where he was the life of the party. He volunteered for ten years with Search and Rescue, and C.A.R.E.S.
Carl is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cathleen; his sons Brian and Bradley (Sandra); daughters Carleen (Bruce) and Alison (Roddy); granddaughters Clare (Rus) and Lora (Jonathan); grandson Lucas; and brother Eric (Diana).
A Memorial Service will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4 Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Please forward condolences through www.hffs.com .
