Gerald E. Sowers Obituary
A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Fredericton, NB, Gerry Sowers passed away at the Riverview Gardens on Monday, March 26, 2018 at the age of 83.
Born in Mouth of Keswick, NB on May 14, 1934, Gerry was the son of the late Charles and Velma (Hawkins) Sowers.
Beloved husband of 57 years to Barbara (nee Johnson).
Loving father of Kevin Sowers (Patsy) of Chatham.
Proud Papa of Kaylee Sowers and Brett Sowers.
Dear brother to Wanita Briggs, Glenwood Sowers (Mildred), Dianna LaPointe, Joyce Yeats (Gary), Shirley Anne Curtis and John Sowers (Judy). Predeceased by his brother Ron Sowers.
Also missed by several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Gerry worked as an Engineering Technologist for the Department of Highways for 36 years. He loved golfing and curling, and enjoyed his membership at Mactaquac Golf Course. He spent many summers out at the lake with his family. He was a talented wood worker and enjoyed making furniture and toys for his family. Shortly after his retirement, Gerry and Barb moved to Chatham to be closer to their son Kevin and his family, where they became members of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
A Memorial Service will be held for Gerry at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr., Fredericton, NB, 506-458-9538, at 11:00am on Saturday, April 28, 2018 with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating.
