Gladys E. Tracy Obituary check_circle

Gladys Elizabeth Tracy of Hartland passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Central Carleton Nursing Home in Hartland. She was the wife of the late Malcolm H. Tracy and the daughter of the late Hubert and Ida Brown of Clearview, NB. She was also predeceased by a brother, Guy E. Brown of Mars Hill, Maine, and sister, Elezena E. MacArthur of Fredericton, NB.

Gadys is survived by her nieces, Ida S. “Bobbie” Embleton, Dr. Joanne (Gordon) McLeod, Ola Terrel, Elaine Dec, Leida Foster; nephew, Dana Brown; sisters-in-law, Claudine Tracy, Claudine Thomas; special friends, Carolyn Corey, Terry and Sandra Jardine, James and Carolyn Tapley, Heather Higginson, Heidi (Dwayne) Stoddart, Tracy (Trevor) Dietrich, Sherry (Bryan) Shantz and Cindy Derksen.

Gladys spent the early part of her life in Greenfield with the late Mary E. McKay. She attended schools in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Michigan. For eighteen years she taught school in Carleton and Victoria Counties. For many years, she assisted her husband with his business at “Top Of The Hill”, M.H. Tracy Ltd, later called Midway Motors.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, and associate member of the Hartland Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Daughters of The Nile, the L.O.B.A., the Imperial Order of Pythian Sisters, Retired Teachers Association, P.C. Party, Women’s Institute, and Covered Bridge Seniors. She served on the local and regional library boards, and was a volunteer at Central Carleton Nursing Home for twenty-five years.

Visitation will be at the Britton Funeral Home, 2 High Street, Hartland on Friday, March 17th from 2 to 3 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Shirley Noseworthy officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hartland at a later date. If so desired, donations in Gladys’ memory can be made to the Greenwood Cemetery. www.brittonfh.ca
