Philip Michael Murphy Obituary check_circle

Philip Michael Murphy – age 85, of Atlanta, Kings County, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Atlanta, he was a son of the late Holden and Leonora (Rockwell) Murphy. Philip was born and raised on a farm and was a farmer until he retired in his later years. He was also a long-time director of the Kings Mutual Insurance Company. Fondly known as “Blips”, he loved his family dearly and enjoyed the times spent with them.

Philip is survived by his children, Cynthia, Deborah (Paul), John (Alina), and Lynn (George); sisters and brothers, Ruth, Louise, Leo (Jean), Elizabeth, Margaret (Ivan), and Budd (Patricia); grandchildren, Mary (Dan), Sarah (Justin), Erin (Colin), Kathleen (Kyle), Louise (Zack), Micheal (Mikaela), Ethan, Anna, and Victoria; great-grandchildren, Robbie, Noah, and Finn; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife Carole Joan (Killam); granddaughter, Alexandra; sisters-in-law, Margaret Sydner, Virginia Hatfield, and Judith Murphy; and brothers-in-law, Jack Landry and Byron MacLeod.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will also be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022; Father John MacPherson officiating. For those unable to attend, a video webcast will be available at the time of service. Interment will take place in Serenity Gardens Cemetery, Centreville, followed by a reception in the Centreville Community Hall. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice.
