James “Jimmy” Siler Obituary check_circle

Peacefully on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Marshall Gowland Manor, James “Jimmy” Siler passed away at the age of 90. Jimmy was the dear husband and best friend for many years of Bonnie (nee Douglas) Siler. He was the loving father of daughter LaVerne (Wade) McCree and son Kevin Siler; cherished grandfather of Lauren and Justin McCree; dear brother of Daisy Kilpatrick; treasured uncle of Deborah (Robert) Hubbard and Ayanna (David) Benson; and brother-in-law of Ray (Lila) Douglas and Marilyn (Cyril) Quinton. Jimmy also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins throughout the United States and Ontario, and his loved pet Reno. He is predeceased by parents Herbert and Elizabeth Siler, brothers-in-law Harold Kilpatrick and Ken (Pauline) Douglas, sister-in-law Joan (the late Duke) Waller and nephew Harold Kilpatrick. Jimmy was born October 6, 1931 at the family farm in Siler City, North Carolina. He graduated from Northern High School in Detroit and was proud to have served in the United States Marine Corp in Korea. Jimmy retired from Chrysler Corp/General Dynamics Defense Division after 35 years. He was a former member of the American Legion in Lansing, Michigan. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. A private service will be held, with interment at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to a charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
