Peacefully, surrounded by loving family at his home, on Thursday, March 16, 2023, Paul Babcock Sr. passed away at the age of 82. Reunited with his wife Frances Babcock (2002). Beloved husband of Theresa Babcock. Loving father of Penny Babcock, Todd Babcock, Peter (Val) Babcock, Paul Jr. (Tracy) Babcock, step-father of Patty Matheson and father-in-law of Marianne Eyre. Cherished grandfather of Jessica (Jesse), Kyle (Lyndsie), Sierra, Miranda (Jay), Teri-Lynn, Lindsay, and Josh. Treasured great-grandfather of Lucas, Lydia, Mason, Sawyer, and Paisley. Dear brother of Marge (the late George) Burgess and Bruce (the late Jacqueline) Babcock Jr. and brother-in-law of Joyce Babcock. Lifetime friend of John Verdunn. Survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Bruce and Edith Babcock and brother Harold Babcock. Paul was retired from the Boilermakers Union Local 128. He worked for his father at Babcock Welding on Murphy Road. Paul finished his career in January 2023 working alongside his son Paul Jr. and grandson Kyle at Babcock Welding on Plank Road. He loved working, listening to Blue Grass music with his buddies, and being a Pops to everybody. Over the years, Paul taught a lot of kids how to weld. In his spare time he enjoyed visiting his family in Kingston as well as camping with his kids and Fran in Port Albert and at Nine Mile River. Paul will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation held two hours prior from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A live stream of the service will be available on Paul’s memorial page on the Smith Funeral Home website at service time.
