It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, May 4, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 76 years. He was born August 28, 1942 on a dairy farm in Crosshill, Ontario. Cherished husband of Connie Birmingham (Spellman) for 53 years. Father of Susan Culliton (Steve), Mary Flewitt (Gary), Lisa Morrissey (Mark), Michelle Sybersma (Mark). Loving grandfather of Lucas and Jillian Culliton, Jonathan Flewitt, Jacob and Matthew Morrissey, Dirk and Sarah Sybersma. Dear brother of Glen Birmingham of Elmira, Dennis Birmingham of Linwood. Predeceased by his parents John and Royetta Birmingham, sister Beverly Birmingham, sister in law Darlene Birmingham (Glen).

Gary was a principal with the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board for many years. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus. His farming background stayed with him always. He was a hobby farmer who loved standard bred horse racing, pigeon racing, hunting with his dogs and small animal sales.

The family would like to thank the caring, loving staff from Spruce lodge for Gary’s care over the last years of his life.

Visitation will take place at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford, Ontario on Tuesday May 7, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford, Ontario
