Stephen Scrak Obituary check_circle

Stephen Scrak
October 23, 1946 – October 19, 2015
After an intense battle with multiple health challenges, Stephan quietly slipped away on October 19, 2015 to a world we can only imagine and long for. Born in Bethlehem, PA, on October 23, 1946, son of Stephan Scrak II and Coralee Campbell, Stephan’s journey took him to Montreal, Vinton, Campbell’s Bay, and Portage du Fort, Quebec, with memorable visits to the Costa del Sol in Spain. A joyful, joy-inspiring artist, Stephan adopted the villages in which he lived and the arts community of the Pontiac as his own family. In turn, he was loved and admired by many as witnessed by those who kept watch at his bedside in his final days.
He is survived by his sister, Mallie Peruso, nieces and cousins in the United States, by his friends, especially Father Basil Tanguay and Michel Thibault, and all his associates in the arts community.
The funeral mass will be celebrated in his parish church, St. James the Greater, Portage du Fort, on Friday, October 23, 2015, his birthday, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the L’Auberge Mont Blanc, Portage du Fort. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
In memorial donations to the Pontiac Historical Society, earmarked for the restoration of the Lady Head Monument, would be appreciated.
Like every good artist, he taught us not only to look but to see.
