Gerard Daly Obituary check_circle

Gerard passed away peacefully on Friday, 17 July, at Quail House. Gerry, who was the only child of the late Raymond Daly and Gertrude McSheffrey-Daly, was born with Down’s syndrome. Gerry is survived by his aunt, Theresa Heafey and by many cousins. In 1992, La Lanterne, a day centre for adults living with intellectual deficiencies, was opened in Rupert, La Peche, QC. Gerry’s father, Ray, was one of the founders of this centre and Gerry attended La Lanterne regularly. He particularly liked going bowling on Fridays. Since 1993, Gerry has lived at Quail House, a home for developmentally challenged adults in Chelsea, QC, operated by the Quebec Association for Independent Living. Friends may call at the McGarry Memorial Chapel & Crematorium, 139 Valley Road, Wakefield, QC, on Tuesday, 21 July, from 6 – 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St Camillus Roman Catholic Parish, Farrellton, QC, on Wednesday, 22 July, at 11 am, with immediate interment in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow at the McGarry Memorial Chapel & Crematorium, Wakefield. The family wishes to thank the staff and board of Quail House for creating such a loving home for Gerard. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerard’s memory to QUAIL, 9 chemin Bois Joli, Chelsea, QC, J9B 1J9, or to La Lanterne, 20 chemin Raphaël, La Pêche, QC, J0X 2W0, would be appreciated.
