Daniel Alejandro Contreras Obituary check_circle

Daniel passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the age of 37 years. Daniel was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Rosa and Guido Contreras on June 18, 1979. Always curious, Dan pursued the sciences in university, ultimately completing a Master’s Degree in Biology from the University of Regina. It was there, in the lab that he met and fell in love with his wife Bevin. They shared their love for each other through good and bad for 12 years. The two had a bond that surpassed anything Hollywood could dream up. Dan loved the outdoors and had a special place in his heart for the Rocky Mountains. Those that knew Dan also understood his unique sense of humour and his ability to trade barbs with the best of them. In his short life, Dan displayed the best of humanity. He was empathetic, compassionate and selfless. He sponsored less fortunate children in other parts of the world and would argue passionately for social justice and equality. Daniel is survived by his wife, Bevin Akister; parents, Rosa and Guido (Margaret); sisters, Karina (Jared), Sophia, and Maya; brother, Fabian (Jeanine); grandparents, Juan and Carmen; uncles, Jorge (Ana), Juan (Maràa), Leo (Milly), and Juan (Marla); aunts, Christina (Juan) and Gisela; as well as many of his cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada and Argentina. A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to World Vision, 1 World Drive, Mississauga, ON L5T 0A7. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Pasqua Hospital’s Oncology and Palliative Care Units for their kindness and caring.
