David George Ralph Obituary check_circle

David George Ralph, 77, died suddenly on June 12, at the family cottage in Ritter’s Arm, his favourite place. Born in St. John’s, he spent his youth in outport communities, where his father ministered.

In 1959, a position with the Bank of Montreal led him to Grand Falls. There, he soon fell in love with Pearl Bowers, and married her the following year. He and Pearl shared four children and six grandchildren together over the following 53 years, until her death from cancer in 2013.

He enjoyed a successful administrative career at the CNRHC, and retired in 1996, which he enjoyed even more.

In the final months of his life, he found love for a second time, this time with Madeleine Stuckless of Bishops Falls. He had a sweet tooth, and loved mugs of hot tea, the outdoors, paddling the canoe, playing cards, playing pool, cheering for any Canadian team, taking afternoon siestas, and completing tasks around the cottage in the most methodical way you could ever imagine. He was a proud member of the Qalipu Mi’Kmaq first nations.

Left to mourn are: partner Madeleine Stuckless; children: Penny (Terry Alyward), Rodney (Jackie), Rhonda (Tonya Allen), and daughter-in-law Frankie Ralph; and grandchildren: Mark Dawe, Matt Ralph, Victoria Ralph, Andrew Ralph, Baeley Ralph, and Zoey Ralph; and sisters-in-law Joan Ralph, Pat Harris and Peggy Johnson.

Predeceased are: parents Rev. George and Ella Ralph; wife Pearl Ralph; siblings Rev. Melvin (Beulah, deceased), Neville, and Joan McNaughton; and son Randy Ralph.
