Lila Roberts Obituary check_circle

Nikiski resident, Mrs. Lila Roberts, 80, died Friday, March 16, 2012 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna, Alaska.

A viewing will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 225 S. Spruce Street in Kenai. Funeral services will follow the viewing at 2:00 p.m. A gathering will follow downstairs at the church.

Mrs. Roberts was born June 4, 1931 to Cleo and Elizabeth McDowell in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. She moved to Alaska living first in Anchorage from 1966 to 1973 before moving to Nikiski where she has lived ever since. Lila worked for the U.S. Postal Services as a mail carrier in Anchorage. In 1976 she was the office manager and part owner of Gemini Masonry Co. in Nikiski, AK. Lila loved Painting Alaska Scenery, Senior Citizen tap dancing and reading.

The family wrote, "She enjoyed canning, cooking and developing new recipes to share with her family and friends. She also enjoyed painting scenery of Alaska, crocheting and loved staying active with the Kenai Senior Center Tap Dance Group. She loved a good laugh at a joke and life’s funny moments. She is loved and will be missed by many."

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Tommy Roberts of Nikiski, daughters, Vickie A. Roberts of Kenai and GuyNel Welsh of Nikiski, Alaska; son, Tommy R. Roberts, Jr. of Longview, WA; brothers, Jack McDowell and Bill McDowell both of Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren
