Richard J “Rick” Damke Obituary check_circle

Anniston – Funeral mass for Richard J. "Rick" Damke, 68, will be at 12 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Bryan Lowe officiating ceremonies. The wake will be Wednesday evening from 5 – 7 at the church. Mr. Damke passed away on Good Friday, April 6, 2012 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. Rick retired as a partner of Lea & Mike’s Food Outlet and former Vice President of SuperValu, Inc., in Anniston. He also served our country in the Army Reserves. Originally from St. Louis, Mo., he relocated to Anniston in 1976. He was active in the Elks Lodge 189, where he was a former trustee. Rick was active in several civic organizations through the years, including The March of Dimes, Boys & Girls Club and the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind. Rick enjoyed extensive travel through the years to Hawaii, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Monaco and all over the Caribbean. He was an avid golfer and spent many weekends fishing and boating with family and friends. Rick is survived by Barbara, his wife of 45 years; a son, Rick III (Katie), of Phenix City, Ala.; daughter, Wendy Jacobs (Allen), of Knoxville, Tenn.; son, David; sister, Rosemary Meyer (Dick), of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. Grandchildren include Richard Damke IV "Bogey", Blythe Jacobs and McKenzie Jacobs. Honorary pallbearers are Ken Saunders, Greg Kernion, Joe Damke, Tom Damke, Allen Jacobs and Vern Larson.
