Virginia T. Drake Obituary
Anniston – Funeral service for Virginia T. Drake, 83, of Anniston, will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Reaves officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church. Mrs. Drake died Wednesday morning at her residence. Survivors include her daughter, Rita D. Shaw (Terry), of Anniston; daughter-in-law, Donna Drake, of Leesburg; grandchildren, Laine Shaw (Kara), and Taylor Drake; great-grandchildren, Calab Shaw, Nathan Shaw and Allie Shaw; sisters, Roxie Lofton, and Julia Dillworth (Tom); brothers, Floyd D. Taymon, Lloyd Taymon, Ray Taymon, and Thomas Taymon; special friends, Roscoe and Joyce Terry, and Teresa Sparks; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Drake is preceded in death by her husband, Ollie F. Drake; son, Ronnie F. Drake; parents, John and Bell Taymon; sister, Shirley Berry; brothers, James Taymon, John Taymon, Richard Taymon, and Herbert Taymon. Pallbearers will be Laine Shaw, Marlon Cooper, Lloyd Taymon Jr., Bobby Davis, Eddy Pruitt, and Jack Totherow. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Pruitt and Tim Pruitt. Mrs. Drake was retired from Belk Hudsons and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was a gifted designer and seamstress, a great cook, and known to her great-grandchildren as "Great-Mama". Mrs. Drake cherished her family and friends, loved her church and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
