Gray, Gertrude Eleanor
Gertrude Eleanor Gray (Trudy) was born on 12/02/1921 in Sisseton, South Dakota. She left us on 01/03/2013 in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was the daughter of Walter and Ida Henderson. She grew up in Marshall, Minnesota with 4 siblings: John, Pauline, McDonald and Carolyn. Her mother died when she was 12 years old and she helped raise her younger siblings. She was able to enjoy many things as a young girl including horseback riding, ice skating, and loved many sports including tennis and swimming. She also learned how to run a home, sing, play the piano, and especially loved sewing. She graduated from Iowa State with a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics. While at Iowa State, she met Burton Gray and they were married on 07/01/1944 in Chicago and spent their honeymoon at a double header for the Chicago Cubs. They lived in Ft. Dodge, IA; Devon, PA; Valley Forge, PA; and retired in Carefree, AZ. After taking up residence in Arizona she became an avid seamstress, pianist, quilter, community supporter, and became an Elder in her Presbyterian church. She loved children and music and will be remembered for her generosity. Trudy is survived by her son, Thomas Gray; six grandchildren: Mac Isaacson, Jana Chaney, Travis Gray, Marshall Gray, Allison Gray, Daniel Gray and 3 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 10AM, Saturday, January 12, 2013, Desert Hills Presbyterian Church, 34605 N. Scottsdale Rd., Scottsdale
