George Fortini Obituary
George Fortini, 87, of Beverly Hills, Florida, died Monday, January 9, 2012, in the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. He was born in Cranston, Rhode Island, on Monday, May 26, 1924, to Fredrick and Frances (Scalisi) Fortini. Mr. Fortini was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army, a retired truck driver, a member of V.F.W. Post No. 10087 and the Beverly Hills Fishing Club. He enjoyed cooking, baking and yard work. He moved to this area 25 years ago from Rhode Island.
Mr. Fortini was preceded in death by his wife Esther Fortini on January 1, 2004. Survivors include his wife Rachel A. Wilcox Fortini of Beverly Hills, Florida; daughter Camella Habib of Rhode Island; grandson Jonathan DiIorio and wife Kelly of Rhode Island; and great-grandchildren Aiden, Keira and Rhianne DiIorio.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2012, beginning at 5 p.m. with a chapel service at 6:30 p.m. at Fero Funeral Home. Military honors will be on Friday, January 13, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O.
