James F. Edwards Obituary
James F. Edwards, age 63, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away February 7, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born February 10, 1948, in Modale, Iowa, to the late Joseph and Anna (Gibson) Edwards. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Jim married Ruth Clevenger on June 7, 1969, in Council Bluffs. They were blessed with two daughters, Laura and Brenda. Jim worked at Bartlett Grain Elevator for 40 years, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and was past-president.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded by his grandson, Ryan Snodgrass; brother, John Edwards; sisters, Linda Reed, Eunice Hill, Joanne Mark and Shirley Burroughs.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ruth Edwards; daughters, Laura (Arthur) Snodgrass, Brenda (Jeffrey) Forrester, all of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Jeffrey Forrester, Karissa Forrester, James Snodgrass, Kayla Brockman; sisters, Mary Sales, of Council Bluffs, Helen Edwards, of Newton, Kansas; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family, Friday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Saturday, 11 a.m., at the mortuary with Rev. Rick Blodgett officiating. Interment Garner Township Cemetery with a lunch following at the Eagles Club. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or Special Olympics of Iowa.
