Loretta Thibodeaux Brinkhaus

GRAND COTEAU – Funeral services for Mrs. Loretta Thibodeaux Brinkhaus, age 77, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2012, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Charles Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. Interment will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery. Father James Lambert will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Loretta Thibodeaux Brinkhaus, wife of Allan L. Brinkhaus, passed away peacefully surrounded by her Family on January 9, 2012, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

She was born on July 23, 1934, in Grand Coteau, LA. Loretta was a graduate of The Academy of The Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau and received her RN degree from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in Beaumont, TX. She and Allan were married for 55 years. For many years, she was involved in her children’s many activities: Girl Scouts, 4-H club, taught CCD, was a Home Room Mother, Crewe of Cornith, and a Sunset Library Volunteer and Organizer.

She is survived by her husband, Allan Brinkhaus; her sister, Ivy Lavergne and husband, Aaron; her children, Ludwig Brinkhaus and wife, Roxann; Maria Bent and husband, Dennis; Lauri Hebert and husband, Gary; Gretchen Dorsey and husband, Neil; Karla Brown and husband, Carl; Hanna Kitchens and husband, Marshall; her grandchildren: Joshua Phillips, Bobby Brinkhaus, Cole Phillips, Julia Bent, Eric Bent, Hanna Dorsey, Fauster Kitchens, Zach Brown, Callie Dorsey and Nicholas Bent; and her great-grandchildren: Lillian, Julia and Issabella Phillips; and Katie Brinkhaus.

Loretta is preceded in death by her parents, Gervis and Angelle Q. Thibodeaux; her sister, Betty Billeaud; and her grandson, Jon-Cameron Phillips.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012, from 5 pm to 9 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau. On Friday, visitation will continue from 8 am until 9:30 am in the funeral home.

A Rosary service will be held at 7 pm on Thursday evening in the funeral home.

In Lieu of Flowers donations maybe made to the Louisiana Chapter Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 3636 South I-10 Service Road, Metairie, LA 70001.
