John Backert Obituary
BACKERT SR., JOHN W., 89, a 51 year resident of Glen Burnie, passed away at his home on November 8, 2011. John was born on October 1, 1922 in Baltimore, MD. He was employed with BG&E for 35 years, retiring in 1976 as a boiler maker. John was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd and enjoyed playing cards, yard work and coin and stamp collecting.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda, of over 50 years. He is survived by his two sons, John W. Backert, Jr. and Timothy Backert; daughter-in-law, Joy Backert; grandchildren, John W. Backert, III and Michele Andrew; and great-granddaughter, Lily Andrew.
The family will receive visitors at the family owned Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Avenue, SW (at Crain Highway) Glen Burnie, on Saturday, November 12th, from 5-9PM & Sunday, November 13th, from 3-5 & 7-9PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, November 14th, 10AM, at Church of the Good Shepherd. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
