Norman Capps

Asheville – Norman Eugene Capps, 76, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He retired in August 1998 from Fishburne International after 24 years of service, was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church where he was a member of the church Brotherhood, a S.S. Teacher of the Adult Men’s Class, a Deacon and a member of the Choir and was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Korean War.

Mr. Capps was a son of the late John Davis Capps and Amanda Hattie Hamlin Capps.

Surviving are his wife, Alma Pearl Waldrop Capps of the home; daughter, Sharon Hughes of Leicester; son, David Eugene Capps and fiancee’ Felicia Buckner of Candler; brother, Harold Ray Capps of Asheville; 6 grandchildren, Gary Erwin, Tennielle Erwin, Sherry Norton, Amanda Norton, Jeffery Capps and Elizabeth Regina Capps; 8 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren, Shawn, Bobby and Tonya Hughes and 7 step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, June 22, 2012 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Higgins and Rev. Dean Clontz officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Friday at the funeral home
