Judith Kathleen Halstead Obituary check_circle

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – Judith "Judy" Kathleen Halstead, 67, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Church of Latter Day Saints in Torrington. This spring, Judy will be returned to the earth at her favorite spot, Ayers National Bridge near Douglas, Wyo.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the family in care of the Platte Valley Bank in Torrington. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jones-mortuary.com. Jones Mortuary of Mitchell is assisting the family.
Judy was born to John and Marie (Barthuly) Groskopf Aug. 27, 1944 in Scottsbluff. She grew up at Hawk Springs, Wyo. where she developed a lifetime love of animals. Judy spent her school years working on the family farm and riding her horse, "Babe."
She married Gary Allen Halstead May 19, 1963, after graduation from Hawk Springs High School. In 1965, Judy moved to Scottsbluff with Gary and their son, Stan. She lived in Gering and worked at Gilman Motors and Industrial Midwec, as well as starting her own pet shop in 1990. She later moved to Torrington where she spent the rest of her days. Judy was a volunteer at Waggin Tails Animal Shelter, fostering many animals in her own home.
Survivors include her husband, Gary; son, Stan Halstead and Eva Carlisle of Torrington; grandchildren, Amanda, Amber, and Joshua; brothers, Melvin and Wayne Groskopf; and sister, Margaret Marlatt.
Preceding Judy in death were her parents; brothers, Robert and Richard; sister, Sandra; and granddaughter, Julie Christine Halstead.
