LAFAYETTE – Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Lorena Landry Gary, 88, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Magnolia Estates in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Paige Eusay and Dana Moore. Lector will be Ellen Gary. Sharee Hunter, organist and soloist, will sing "On Eagles’ Wings", "Be Not Afraid", "One Bread, One Body" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" for the services.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Studler and her husband Reinhold of Lafayette; one son, Wayne Gary and his wife Darlene of Lafayette; one sister, Vern Glynn; five grandchildren, Paige Eusay, Chad Peltier, Dana Moore, Wayne Joseph Gary, II, D.D.S. and Donovan Gary; and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph "J.D." Gary; her parents, John and Lorrentine Stelly Landry; six sisters, Yolande Theriot, Claudia Guidry, Lillian Breaux, Theresa Brown, Media Derousselle, and Toot Hollier; and one brother, Lester Landry.

A lifelong resident of Lafayette, Lorena Gary was retired from Gary’s Grocery after 25 years of service. She was known for her hard work and dedication. She always had a story and remedy for anything. She was the "Florence Nightingale" of the family. Lorena will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Chad Peltier, Wayne Gary, II, D.D.S., Donovan Gary, Tyler Istre, Murphy Eusay and David Moore.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Friday, January 13, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed on Friday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
