Thelma Olive Bennett Obituary check_circle

Thelma Olive Bennett beloved wife of the late William Bennett died December 2, 2016 in the MacGregor District Health Centre, MacGregor, MB at the age of 95 years.

Thelma was born on February 22, 1921 and was the daughter of John & Mary Smale of Bagot where she was raised and received her education. She then helped out on the home farm until joining the Canadian Armed Forces and she served in Canada in 1945. The same year she married William Bennett and they farmed north of MacGregor until 1965 when they moved into MacGregor.

Thelma was a devoted member of the Jehovah’s Witness faith and enjoyed attending the services, the fellowship and witnessing to others. Her interests included gardening, embroidery and needle work. Thelma was a gifted artist as well as a talented poet. She was a devoted wife and homemaker and her family and grandchildren were very special to her.

Thelma is predeceased by her husband Bill; daughter Margaret Laurie Tait; her parents John & Mary Smale; brother Jack Smale (Eunice); sisters Mollie Gunnarson (Gunner), Norma Kalberg (Walter) and Margarett Lemiski (Mike) as well as sister-in-law Gladie Bergquist (Carl).

Left to mourn her passing are her son Mark Bennett (Tanis), grandsons Trevor Bennett (Lauren) Blake, Tatum, Dustin Bennett (Kara) and Easton; daughter Fay Birch, grandsons Billy Birch (Wendy), David Birch (GiGi) Julie, Hannah, also granddaughter Leslie Birch-Hayden (Glen) Brenden, Jeff Tait, Javen, Shayne, Andie, Trysten; granddaughter Kim Tait (Sean Ham) Justin, Tyler, Jordyn and Angela Tait Breanna and Cord as well as many nephews and nieces.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie at 1:00 p.m. A private interment will follow at the MacGregor Cemetery, MacGregor, Manitoba.
