JACQUELINE ELIZABETH BENSON (NEE HOOPER)
It is with great sadness we announce the loss of Jacqueline Elizabeth Benson (nee Hooper) after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Victoria Hospital, surrounded by her family, friends and loved ones.
Jackie was born on August 26, 1956 in Bristol, England. She moved with her family to Winnipeg in May 1971. It was in Winnipeg where she met life-long friends and her loving husband Donald Benson. Jackie spent her life as a devoted wife and a loving and caring mother. She placed high importance on her family, staying home to raise her children and running a home daycare.
As her children grew up Jackie opened her home to all of their friends, offering dinner and a safe place to spend the night. Everyone felt loved in Jackie’s home and she loved having a full house.
Jackie’s smile, laughter and love of music will always be remembered by her loving husband of 34 years, Donald, her children Nicki (Adam) and Kenny (Sarah), grandson Connor, brother Steve (Nancy), sisters Kim and Milli, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at the Victoria Hospital for their help and support during this difficult time.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to CancerCare Manitoba or the Winnipeg Pet Rescue.
