Robert A. Russell
The death of Robert (Bob) Allen Russell, husband of the late Pauline (Hill) Russell, of Point Aux Carr occurred at Miramichi Regional Hospital on January 10, 2018 at the age of 84.
Born in Point Aux Carr on October 15, 1933, Bob was the son of the late Earl and Aletha (Taylor) Russell.
Bob is survived by children Daniel (Gail) Russell of Fredericton, Valerie (Brent) Sherrard of Miramichi and Andrew (Ruth-Ann Wright) Russell of Elmira, ON, grandchildren Anthony, Pamela, Bryce and Drew, great grandchildren Emilee, Ericka, Veronicka, Matthew and Andrew, and sister Shirley Dutcher.
Besides his parents and wife, Bob was predeceased by granddaughter Rebecca and brothers Blair, Vernon and Cecil.
Bob put his faith in the Word of God, trusting in his Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ. He served his country as a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force for 25 years and visited many parts of the world on peace-keeping duties. Bob had a wide circle of friends who valued his sense of humour, wit and intelligence. He was always ready to lend a hand and, in spite of personal frugality, was often generous in helping others. He was a model of hard work and integrity and was widely respected.
In his declining years, Bob was fortunate to be part of a community where folks look out for each other. The family is grateful for the many kindnesses that were extended to him, particularly during his time as a widower.
For this reason, we ask that, in lieu of flowers or charitable donations, those who wish to honour Bob’s memory would perform an act of kindness for an elderly person. A meal, a chore, a visit à anything that reminds that person they are not forgotten and that someone cares.
Arrangements are in the care of Adams Funeral Home at 140 King St. Miramichi where the family will receive visitors from 1:00 à 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12. Messages of condolence may be sent online to www.adamsfh.ca
A funeral service will take place at Adams Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13 with Pastor Chad Rozelle officiating. Interment will occur at Pine Grove Cemetery, Miramichi, later in the spring.
