Locke Eugene Perry Obituary check_circle

 

Locke Eugene Perry, 84, of Woodstock, NB, passed away on March 18, 2024 at the Upper River Valley Hospital.

Locke was born to Conn and Mildred (Thorne) Perry in Havelock, NB. After attending school in Havelock, he went to work for Lounsbury Co. Ltd in Chatham, NB, as the Credit and Office Manager. In 1959, he carried this experience over to Lockhart’s Limited in Moncton, and later moved to Saint John, as Manager of the Hanover Street location, until 1975.

He then took the opportunity to become the owner of Perry’s Home Centre in Hampton NB. Following a move to Woodstock, he worked for Maritime Lumber in the 1980’s. In later years he worked as an underwriter for Standard Life Assurance and Manulife Ltd. and owned and operated a Special Care Home.

Locke was a member of many service and professional organizations in which he held a variety of positions. He was the President of the Saint John Kinsman Club, Chairman of the Saint John Service Club Council, Vice President of the Saint John Construction Association, a member of the Saint John Board of Trade, President of the Atlantic Building Supply Dealers Association, and a member of the Woodstock Rotary Club. Locke enjoyed a deep interest and involvement in politics. Numerous contributions to political life in the province culminated in his position as President of the New Brunswick Progressive Conservative Party.

Locke married Ellen Graham in Moncton and had five children, Kevin (Debbie), Mark (Paula), Todd (Dawne), Kim, and Jacqui (Dan).

Locke would later marry Janet Chandler and move to Woodstock with her children, John (Trish), Patricia (Peter), and Stuart (Kim).

Locke was predeceased by his sisters Joan and Vera, and brother Royce. He is survived by his sisters, Lois, Delores, and Charlene, eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and his close friend Troy Doherty. In his final years, family members and friends enjoyed the visits to Locke’s Woodstock apartment where he would share engaging stories and photographs of his family, life on the farm in Havelock, and his many accomplishments.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Gharavi and the staff at Upper River Valley Hospital for their kindness and care of Locke. Also the staff of Extra Mural and Social Development for their support.

Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street Woodstock, NB

Visitation will be held at the Scott Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 25, 2024 from 2 pm – 3 pm.

Memorial Service will be held in The Scott Chapel at 3 pm.  Pastor Carl O’Donnell will be officiating.

Locke will be buried next to his parents at Greenhill Cemetery in Havelock, N.B.
