Ann Veronica Boyle Obituary check_circle

Ann Veronica Boyle, age 81, of Afton, passed away peacefully on May 15th, 2022, in St Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by her family.

Born in Long Point, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Christena (MacDougall) Wills.

Ann grew up with her large family in Long Point. She attended the local schools, then after graduation, she attended Leon’s Academy in Sydney and obtained a Certificate of Cosmetology. She worked in beauty salons in New Glasgow and Antigonish. After building up a clientele, Ann and her sister Carol opened their own beauty salon called the Carol Ann Beauty Salon, which was quite successful. Ann continued to work there until her first child was born. She then chose to devote her time to raising her four children.

Ann was young at heart, had great faith and a generous, caring spirit. She was a past member of the Antigonish Town and County Crime Prevention Association and the St Peter’s Parish CWL. She loved animals and volunteered for years with the SPCA and CARMA organizations. She was so proud of her Cape Breton roots and had a special place in her heart for her Cape Breton nieces and nephews. She took great pride in her grandchildren and loved giving them advice, warranted or not. To say she was a conversationalist is putting it mildly. She could start a conversation with anybody, friend, or stranger, and would always find out, at the very least, who your parents were and where you were from. We will miss her greatly.

She is survived and dearly missed by her husband of 52 years Richard Boyle, Afton; children Rayanna (Scott) Patterson, Halbstadt, Manitoba; Todd (Cora-Lee) Boyle, Stellarton; Krista (Jason) Delorey, Afton; Charla (Shawn) Robertson, Loch Broom; sister Carol Wills, St. Andrew’s; grandchildren Chelsea and Keegan Boyle; Graham, Dominic, Liam, and Evan Delorey; Victoria, Chase, and Natasha Robertson; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Hugh and Christena Wills; siblings Sydney, Jimmy, Bernie, Leo, Mary Wills, Rita Weaver and Florence LeBlanc.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held in C.L. Curry Funeral Home,135 College Street Antigonish on Thursday, May 19th from 4-6pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 20th at 11am in St. Peter’s Church Tracadie with Reverend John Barry presiding. Burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Antigonish County Palliative Care Society or the St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery Fund.
