Wallace GARDNER Obituary check_circle

Wallace Gardner of Arthur passed away peacefully at Grove Memorial Hospital, Fergus on Sunday, August 26 at the age of 87. Born and raised in a small English village, Wallace completed trade school (patternmaker) before joining the RAF. During his service he was stationed in Hong Kong to aid in peace keeping missions. In 1955 Wallace left England and emigrated to Canada where he continued to work in the aviation field. Upon retiring of corporate life in 1973, full time farming became his lively hood, with a return to his wood working skills in the late 80 s. During retirement, Wallace continued his avid love of fishing, reading, community work and he learned Bridge. Wallace was the beloved husband of Nancy (Morrison) Gardner for 54 years. Dear father of Charles and Karen Gardner of Arthur, Katherine and Chris O’Donnell of Arthur and Dorothy and Mark Price of Etobicoke. Cherished grandfather of Emma Gardner and her fiancé Braiden Bouche, Alex Gardner, Hannah Gardner; Lilly O’Donnell; Curtis Price and Isabelle Price. Brother of Eleanor West of England. Brother-in-law of Jeannie Morrison and Christine Dacey both of Ottawa. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Gordon West, May and William Highlands, Dennis Dacey. To honour Wallace’s wishes cremation has taken place.

The family will receive friends at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Arthur on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 2 to 4 with remembrances at 3:30. A period of fellowship and refreshments will follow at 4 p.m. at the Arthur United Church.
