Henderson, Ronald James “Ron”

Passed away peacefully on October 20, 2021 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre – Barrie in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Coral Henderson (née Jacobs) for over 56 years. Loving father of Pauline Henderson – Ferguson (Ken Ferguson) and Karen Bond (Anna Cadilha). Cherished grandfather of Paige Ferguson, Kyle Edissi and Makenna Edissi. Caring brother of Robert (Linda), Stewart (Lorraine), Jean Henderson (Late Bruce Frazer) and brother-in-law of Carol. Ronald is predeceased by his parents late George and Letitia Henderson and his brother late Ian Henderson. Ron will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ron spent most of his career teaching at Barrie North Collegiate “North” educating the young minds of children for 31 of years. Within those many years he ran the Interschool Christian Fellowship and Skills Canada and later he was selected to be a guidance counselor. Ron was a long time member of First Baptist church. He was instrumental in the building of the new church location on Grove Street. In retirement he delivered papers for the Barrie Advance, renovated homes and loved spending time with his grandchildren. For 20 years he tapped the trees, collected the sap and produced Shanty Bay Maples maple syrup. Arrangements entrusted to Steckley Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street – Barrie. A funeral service will be held on October 23, 2021 with visitation from 1pm to service time at 2 o’clock at the First Baptist Church, 550 Grove St East – Barrie.
