Doreen Metcalf (née Mansfield) Obituary
Peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Victoria Hospital at the age of 102. She was born in Upper Norwood, London, England. She served in the Women’s Auxiliary Territorial Service (A.T.S) during the 2nd world war. Doreen came to Canada in 1947 and spent most of her working years at McDace Ltd. in London, Ontario.
Loving mother to Judith Strobel, Brenda Hicks (Paul), and Glenn Metcalf (Joan). Much loved granny to Bridget, Christian (Bess), Ben, Brandon (Maggie), Vanessa (Chris), Kyle, and Adam. Great grandmother of Declan, Reagan, Hazel, Georgia, Shea, and Owen. Predeceased by sisters Joan, Cynthia, and Priscilla (Brian).
Many summers were spent enjoying her cottage in Point Clark. She loved to travel, knit, sew, and was an avid reader. She was also passionate about crosswords and she always had the answers.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Ashwood Manor for their care and friendship over the years.
Friends and relatives will be received at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday, April 29, 2024, with visitation at 1:30 p.m. and service to follow at 2:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Private family interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
