Jean Kennedy Obituary check_circle

On February 29, 2024, Jean Kennedy got her wings and went to walk with the angels. She is reunited with her loving husband David John Kennedy and many of her beloved family members and friends in Canada, Northern Ireland and New Zealand. It will be some party up there!!

She leaves behind her cherished sister Muriel (Tim), two adoring children Dean (Judy), Lisa (Tony), her much loved grandchildren Anthony, Colleen (Anthony), Quinn, Julia, Jacob and Kathryn (Yoel) and her precious great grandchildren Ameila and Carmella.

Everyone who knew Jean knew her to be strong willed, orderly and dignified. She lived life on her own terms.  While the last few years she had many medical issues that robbed her of her independence we all knew deep inside she was still the same Jean. The strong lady with a great laugh, who loved a good time. A character, she had a cheeky sense of humour and an undying love of all things Elvis Presley.

She loved to travel! Trips to Hawaii for her and John’s 25th wedding anniversary, Acapulco with Dean & Lisa after Dean’s graduation, a big family reunion in Northern Ireland and another anniversary trip to her favourite island Barbados provided her with so many wonderful memories and filled her heart with joy.

When Jean’s children were young, she volunteered at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church and sold Avon and Mary Kay where she found she was a natural salesperson. When the children were older, she decided to go back to school and get her Real Estate license and was an agent in Oakville for many years. She genuinely loved helping people find the home of their dreams or ensuring the sale of a family home was overseen with the utmost care. She tirelessly worked day and night such was her desire to get every detail just right!

Rest easy now Jean. You were a fighter to the very end. We will miss you so very much!

We thank the wonderful medical staff and care workers at Wyndham Manor who looked after Jean and did their very best to make her comfortable especially over the last few years.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to any charity that provides support to seniors with cognitive and physical impairments.
