Eric passed away in Kemptville, ON on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the age of 95. Former resident of Ottawa, City View and North Gower. Loving husband of Rita Foster. Predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor Ames (2008). Survived by his children Harold (Margaret) of Steinbach Manitoba, Donald (Dorothy) of Chilliwack BC, Jonathan (Valerie) Fieldwebster of Novar ON, Alison (Bob) Coutts of Mount Forest ON and Norman (Diana) of North Gower ON. Proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Survived by sister-in-law Barbara Cloutier, Nieces and Nephews, Step Children; Greg, Linda, Deborah, Dwight and their Families. Eric is predeceased by his parents Harold (1957) and Eva Liddle (1976), brother in law John Ames (1949), nephew Stephen Field (2003), sister in law Lois Field (2015) and brother Ronald Field (2018). On completing high school at Glebe Collegiate and serving in the RCAF, Eric built his first house in City View, working for and subsequently retiring from the Geological Survey of Canada. He was a member of the City View Horticultural Society, charter member of the Rideau Township Historical Society, member of the Probus Club of Manotick and Wolf Cub leader in North Gower. Dad was a loving father who enjoyed family, friends, his home and Wolfe Lake cottage. He was a proficient carpenter, adept skier, boat enthusiast and gardener. He was a man who loved life and experienced much in his 95 years. A huge thank you is extended to the Staff of Bayfield Manor, Kemptville for Dad’s care in his final months and to the Foster family for welcoming him. Family and friends may pay their respect at the Kars Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, 1610 Roger Stevens Drive, Kars, ON on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service in the chapel at 11 a.m. followed by a reception.
