H. Dick WATSON Obituary
WATSON, H. Dick, of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, in his 87th year. Husband of Suzanne (nee McKillop) (Todd) Watson and the late Dorene (nee Wolfe) Watson (1981). Father of Doug Watson (Carol), Don Watson, Dianne Watson, and Diamond Watson-Hill (Mark). Step-father of Susan Todd, and Michael Todd (Allison). Grandfather of Jayden, Ella, and Alexa. Dick was one of 10 children, and is survived by his sisters; Ida Earle, and Maxine Truemner (Graham). Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born in Kippen, ON, July 8, 1929, he was the son of the late Clifford and Mamie (nee Churchill) Watson. Dick was a retired Master Warrant Officer with the Canadian Armed Forces, having served in the Korean War and with regiments including Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians), the Royal Canadian Dragoons, and the Elgin Regiment. He was a member of New Vision Community Church, United Church of Canada, and the Duplicate Bridge Club, St. Thomas. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Friday evening, November 20th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. where the funeral and committal service will be held Saturday, November 21st at 11:00 a.m. Private interment in Elmdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) Regimental Society will be gratefully acknowledged.
