Mrs. Mary (nee Willoughby) ELSOM Obituary
ELSOM, Mrs. Mary (nee Willoughby), of St. Thomas, formerly of Sarnia, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Monday, November 7, 2016, in her 76th year. Beloved wife of Alfred R. (Alf ) Elsom. Mother of Lynne Riddell (Carrie) of St. Thomas, and Barb Elsom (Su Morrow) of Cobourg. Grandmother of Alex and Mike Riddell. Sister of Jean White (late Wib) and Ross Willoughby (Patricia), all of Sarnia, and the late Joan DeBuck (late Ross). Also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. Born in Sarnia, ON, October 31, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Kitch and Mary (nee Hawkins) Willoughby. Mary was an employee of Shoppers Drug Mart, St. Thomas for many years. She was a former Brownies & Girl Guides leader, a long standing member of the Locke’s Community Club, and a long-time member and supporter of the North America Railway Hall of Fame and the CASO Station, St. Thomas. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at the CASO Station, 750 Talbot Street, St. Thomas on Tuesday, November 15th at 1:00 p.m., followed by refreshments and a light lunch. Relatives and friends will be received by the family from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Memorial donations to the North America Railway Hall of Fame (CASO Restoration Project) or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
