Louise A. Schroeder Obituary check_circle

Louise Anne Schroeder, age 82, passed away peacefully in palliative care at Spruce Lodge on September 27, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Port Rowan, Ontario. Daughter of the late Abram and Mary (Braun) Reimer. Survived by George, her beloved husband of 58 years, three brothers Daniel Reimer, Arthur Reimer, Harold Reimer and her four children Philip and daughter-in-law Saori of Stratford, Mark and daughter-in-law Judy of Louisville, Kentucky, Alan and daughter-in-law Etsuko of Victoria, BC and Sharon and son-in-law Rakesh Peter-Dass of Zeeland, Michigan. Predeceased by her sister Esther Martin. Proud Grandmother of James and Andrew of Louisville, Kentucky, Amy of Stratford and Owen, Lukas and Hannah of Victoria, BC. She received her BA from Western University. She was employed by the Avon Maitland Board of Education having taught at Anne Hathaway, Downie Central and Shakespeare Public Schools until her retirement in 1998. George and Louise enjoyed travelling to many different countries, including with their children in the early years, and in later years traveled to the different countries where their children lived. Over the years Louise volunteered in many church and community organizations. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was part of a prayer group at Avon Mennonite Church. Louise volunteered at Stratford Public Library and received an Ontario Volunteer Service Award for her service. She also volunteered at Gallery Stratford, as a board member with L’Arche Stratford, and on the executive of Friends of Rotary and she received a Paul Harris Fellow award from the Rotary Club of Stratford. She also enjoyed sharing about Stratford by leading Double Decker bus tours. The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Doug Thompson, as well as the nurses, staff, and caregivers at Spruce Lodge for their kindness and care in this difficult time. She succumbed to Parkinson’s Disease. Friends and relatives will be received at W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford, on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 3:00 pm. Those who wish to join the family from their home can do so by clicking view livestream under Lousie’s obituary on the funeral home website. A reception will follow.
