ANNIE SAWATZKY (nee Reddekopp)
February 16, 1926 – December 16, 2012
Mom passed away peacefully on Sunday at the Rosthern Union Hospital to be with her Heavenly Father. Mom was surrounded by her loving husband, John, of 64 years and all of her children. Annie (Anne) leaves behind John and six children: Rick (Lily) Sawatzky, Eileen (John) Toews, Barbara (David) Fransen, Brenda (Ian Johnston) Sawatzky, Glenn (Trudy) Sawatzky and Boyd (Cheryl) Sawatzky. She also leaves behind 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She is predeceased by their son Leon (2010), her parents, Abraham and Helena (nee Fehr) Reddekopp, 2 brothers, Isaac and Abraham and 3 sisters, Susie, Lena and Mary. Mom’s love of all children and her true devotion to their well being was evident through years of caring for over 100 foster children. Mom had a gift of reusing anything to craft something beautiful or useful. She truly enjoyed teaching others how to do the same. Mom and Dad always enjoyed travelling and making new friends wherever they went. We sincerely thank the staff at the hospital for making our final days with our mother very special. The viewing will be on Thursday, December 20 at 7 p.m. at the Martens Funeral Home in Warman, SK. A family interment will take place on Friday morning, December 21. The memorial service and fellowship meal will be on Friday, December 21 at 2 p.m., at the Rosthern Mennonite Church in Rosthern, SK. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee or The Rosthern Hospital Foundation Inc. Arrangements in care of MARTENS WARMAN FUNERAL HOME (934-4888).
