KENNETH GROUBY Obituary check_circle

Grouby, Kenneth Lee, 52, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on January 12, 2013, in Orange Beach, Alabama. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 15 at 2:00 PM at the Prattville First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Coleman and Pastor Dave Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memorial Gardens. Kenneth was a former resident of Prattville and moved to Orange Beach in later years. He is preceded in death by two brothers, James Edward Grouby and Robert Keith Grouby; grandparents, Judge and Mrs. E.A. “Bud” Grouby and Mr. & Mrs. Bob Beck. He is survived by a son, Dylon Brownlow; parents Mr. & Mrs. Edward A. Grouby, Jr. of Prattville; a sister Cindy (Jim) Key of Gulf Shores; a brother, Chip (Gina) Grouby of Opelika. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Buddy and Una Mae Beck, Wayne and Dianne Reynolds, and Betty Milldrum; nieces, Sarah Key, Julie Key, Martlyn Grouby; a nephew Jacob Davis, many close cousins and his beloved dog, Jack. Ken took great pride in his profession as a skilled carpenter until becoming disabled. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and a very enthusiastic Alabama fan. He was known to be a compassionate and giving person, always extending a helping hand with a smile on his face and never had an unkind word for anyone. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor and outgoing personality, and he will be missed by all who knew him. Ken was a loyal friend to many. Pallbearers will be Bob Beck, Benjie Beck, Brian Horton, Tom Milldrum, Danny Smyth, Danny Durbin, Kerry Butler and Ricky McCrory. Honorary pallbearers will be Les Crane, Wayne Allman, Tim House, Ricky Brownlow, Mark McClellon, Gary Brownlow and Joe Frederick. Donations may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, Alabama 35236, The Methodist Children’s Home, 3140 Zelda Ct., Montgomery, Alabama 36117 or to the Humane Society of your choice.
