Bailey, Lillie Louise "Ish"
Lillie Louise "Ish" Bailey passed away peacefully on October, 23rd 2011 in Mesa. Lillie Louise was given the nicknames Ish and Ishie by her parents Robert L and Emma (Winfrey) Martin as a toddler. She was born on October, 25th 1926 in Welch, West Virginia, and raised in Anawalt, WV where she met her future husband of 62 years Clarence L Bailey Jr (deceased 2008). Ish and "Bailey" moved to Tempe, AZ in 1954 with their three sons, where a fourth son was born a year later. Ish was the epitome of the 1950s and 60s homemaker as wife and mom. She was active in Cub Scouts, PTA and collected for the Mother’s March for the March of Dimes, in addition to following her brood through their various sports and social activities. For a few years, she augmented the family income by working outside the home for short periods when it was needed most. Many close and endearing friendships were made in those years when folks in Tempe still knew all their neighbors. Ish is survived by sons Mark (Lynn) of Mesa, Mike (Sandi) of New Albany, IN, Gary (Pamela) of Tucson and Bill (Lennie) of Tucson. Ish was also "BB" to grandchildren Dustan (Allison), Samuel (Season), Joshua, Jennifer (Emil), Christopher, Michael (Holly), Heather, Ryan (USMC), Erin and Katie, and great grandchildren Nicole, Austin, Juliette, Hunter, David, Keegan, Mason, and Callum. Services will be held 10 AM, Saturday, October 29th at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Ave., in Tempe. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Banner Garden Hospice House, 7231 E Broadway Rd Mesa, AZ 85208
