John Dick Benson Obituary check_circle

John was born in the Bronx, New York City on May 1, 1923. He was a Technical Sergeant in the Army Signal Corps in India during World War II. He graduated from City College of New York with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1949. John worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company as a Loss Prevention Specialist from 1950 to 1988 and was a licensed Safety Engineer, specializing in ergonomics. He retired to Auburn, Calif., in 1988. He was active in various widowed persons clubs and was an elder in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn. He is survived by his son, Rhen Benson, an architect in Bodega, Calif., and daughter, Linda Wilson, a copy editor and homemaker in Coeur d’Alene, ID; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren of Santa Rosa, Calif.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 275 Nation Drive, Auburn, CA 95603. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Please sign the online guestbook at www.chapelofthehills-auburn.com.
