RUTH R. SCHMID Obituary
A funeral service for Ruth R. Schmid, who passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, will be 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach. The family will be receiving friends for an hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Ruth was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1932 and moved to Florida in 1986 from New Jersey. She was a graduate of Bay Path College, Longmeadow, MA. She was a member of Flagler Beach United Methodist Church, Flagler Beach, FL. She was a retired Office Manager for the Washington Crossing Foundation and edited several books for her long time friend and employer, Ann Hawkes Hutton. She loved cooking, singing and was always involved in her church choir; she particularly enjoyed her long-time summer home in Northern Vermont. Ruth leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 58 years, Melvin R. Schmid; daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and David Webb of Ormond Beach, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Mary Schmid of Santee, CA; sister, Susan R. Derrick of Loganville, GA; and five grandchildren, Kady, Kyra and Dylan Webb and Christian Schmid and Ryan Schmid. She was preceded in death by her brother, Alan Rising. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Home Society of New Jersey, 635 S. Clinton Ave., Trenton, N.J. 08611.
