Sadie C. Guilbeau

CARENCRO – Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at a 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Mrs. Milton Guilbeau, age 83, the former Sadie Courvelle, who passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at River Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Carencro. The Rev. Mario Romero, Associate Pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Scott, will officiate at the services. Giftbearers will be Kim Benoit and Frank Parks IV. Lectors will be Bridget Vincent and Libby Thibodeaux. Music will be provided by Tammy Maturin, Ashley Foreman and Tony Broussard. Songs will include Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain, Old Rugged Cross and Ave Maria.

Mr. Guilbeau was a native of Cankton and a resident of Lafayette for most of his life. She was a parishioner of St. Jules Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, Milton Guilbeau of Lafayette; one daughter, Lisa Guilbeau Parks and her husband, Frank Parks III of Lafayette; one grandchild, Frank Parks IV; one brother, Ravis Courvelle and his wife, Joyce Stelly Courvelle of Arnaudville; one nephew, Blaine Courvelle, two nieces, Bridget Courvelle Vincent and her husband, Neil, and Kim Courvelle Benoit and her husband, Kevin; three great nieces; and four great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ophe Courvelle and the former, Ezola Kidder.

Although Sadie’s immediate family was small, her extended family grew by having captured the love and association of so many friends and their children. Sadie was a true example of "Behind every good man is a good woman." She was a stanch supporter of Milton, whether in his business, his music, or his guitar building endeavors.

Sadie was a working homemaker her entire adult life. She found pleasure keeping up her house, tending to her beautiful flowers and was never late for her Friday afternoon hair appointment .Her passion for fashion made her a welcomed visitor at many Lafayette retailers.

Sadie’s family, relatives and friends acknowledge the kind service of Sadie’s Godsend caregiver since 2003, Chere Lantier.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mr. Guy Sarver, Cherie Blanchard and the entire staff at River Oaks Retirement Manor for their wonderful and loving care and for allowing Chere Lantier to participate with Sadie’s Care.

A rosary will be prayed by Sadie’s cousin, Darrell Burleigh on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Jason Lantier, Blaine Courvelle, Harold Guilbeau, Randy Maturin, Tony Broussard and Edward Hebert.
