John William Dilts
Candler – John William Dilts, 77, of Candler, passed away Sunday, June 17th surrounded by his family. John was born in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Donald Lowell Dilts and Mildred Rachel Kirk Dilts. He moved to Asheville from Miami in 1996. John was a member of the Basilica of St. Lawrence and the American Legion. He was a graduate of Western Military Academy, Santa Barbara City College, WVIT, St. Thomas University, Stanford University and received his Nuclear Medical training in Winter Haven, FL. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. John worked at various hospitals, including Al Kobhar in Saudi Arabia and the Veterans Administration in Asheville until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his former wife, Anna Marie Dilts.
He is survived by his children; Stephanie Dilts, Geoffrey Dilts and Rachel Dilts and 11 grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00AM on Monday, June 25th at the Basilica of St. Lawrence, D.M., Asheville with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 24th from 2-4PM at Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn, Chapel of Faith, Candler.
