Abate, Carolina NORTH ALBANY Carolina Abate, 91, died Monday, January 30, 2012. Born in Italy, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Elena Cresti Esposito. She retired from the Albany City School District. Carolina was a volunteer at Our Lady of Hope Residence and longtime commun-icant of Sacred Heart Church where she also served on the Altar Society. She was the wife of the late Michele Abate; mother of Samuel Abate (Mildred), Clara Proven-zano (Fiore), Frank Abate, Dora Eafrato (Lawrence), Arnold Abate (Amelia), Rocco Abate and Edie McDonnell (Edward); sister of Francesco Esposito (Angela); survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services Friday, February 3, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. from the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, now at 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to Sacred Heart Church, North Albany at 9:30 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
