Louis “Blaine” Friend Obituary check_circle

Louis "Blaine" Friend, 66, died Jan. 3, 2012, in Eugene, Ore., after a lengthy illness.
Blaine was born in Klamath Falls, Ore., on Sept. 9, 1945, to Clarence and Clausie Lowry Friend. He graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1964 after he completed basic training with the Army National Guard. He then joined the United States Coast Guard and remained in the military until his medical retirement in 1993. At that time, he settled in Sutherlin, Ore., where he was living at the time of his death.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to ride motorcycles. He faithfully attended The Father’s House church, where he made lasting friendships with several "riding" buddies. He was very outspoken politically and enjoyed reading and listening to talk radio.
Survivors include his wife Jeri of Sutherlin; his sons Josh Friend of Raleigh, N.C., and Rob Owens of Naples, Italy; sister Sharon Wesley of Puyallup, Wash.; six grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1980 and his mother on Dec. 20, 2011.
Memorial services with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 13, 2012, at The Father’s House in Sutherlin. Private inurnment will be held at the Roseburg National Cemetery. Pearson’s Funeral Home in Roseburg is in charge of the arrangements.
