Joseph C Lewis Obituary check_circle

Joseph C. Lewis, 75, of Erie Community, passed away at 12:48pm, Sunday, December 11, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Terra Alta, October 18, 1936 a son of the late Ray Ottis and Edna May Teets Lewis and his step-mother, the late Sylvia Child Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Eddy Lewis whom he married on March 8, 2008. Also surviving are three daughters, Susan Stuck, Lewiston, ID, J. Renee Lewis, Fernley, NV, Bethany Lewis, Fontana, CA, two sons, Allen Lewis, Seoul, South Korea, Joseph Wayne Lewis, FL, 10 grandchildren, Taylor and Caleb Lewis, Shelby, Jessica, Rebecca, and Camilla Stuck, Adrian Yekel, Karissa Duff, and Randi and Levi Owen, four great-grandchildren, Riley Rae Lewis, Alayna Dawne Duff, Henry Payden Duff, Chloe Elise Yekel, six step-children, Dian Beurger and her husband Dave, Winter Haven, FL, Stanley Weese and his wife Carol, Minneapolis, MN, Phillip Weese, FL, Duane Gump, Quiet Dell, Paula Long and her husband Steve, Arnettsville, WV, Ronald Gump, Gypsy, step grandchildren, Amy Weese and her husband David, Lisa Allen and her husband Bill, Robbie Hughes, Kayla Long, Courtney Long, step great-grandchildren, Camden Shaw, Andrew Allen, D.J. Talkington and Tomas Shingleton, three sisters, Scharline Mazka, Baltimore, MD, Helen Meckley, Terra Alta, Jo Anne O’Brien and her husband Joe, Terra Alta, two step brothers, Arthur Childs, and Roy Childs, one step-sister, Winona Childs Weese Lewis and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one step-son, Mike Gump, two brothers, Willard Glenn Lewis and Wellington Paul Lewis, and one step-brother, Forrest Childs. Joe was a veteran having served with the United States Air Force. He retired from Consol Energy, Laurel Run Mine and did many other jobs after retirement. He enjoyed playing bluegrass, gospel, and country music having played with several groups the latest of which was Brad Crow and the Cutups. He also liked woodworking and crafts. Friends may call at the Perine Funeral Home, rt. 19 South, Shinnston from 11am until the time of the service at 2pm, Wednesday, December 14 with Pastor Robert L. Shingleton officiating.
